Auction Planning Meeting Scheduled

Sep 23, 2011

The annual Beverly Benefit auction is scheduled for March 9, 2012!  Last year we netted over $70,000 at the auction.  The Beverly Benefit is a great way to have fun with fellow families while raising money to support important programs at our school.

Matching Funds Challenge Update

Dec 24, 2010

We just wrapped up our Matching Funds Challenge for 2010.  A few families generously donated $5000 towards the challenge.  Families from the school at large stepped up to meet the challenge by donating just under $5000!

Auction Planning Meeting

Sep 17, 2010

The Beverly Benefit Annual Auction is not until March, but already plans are under way to make this the most successful year yet! BUT, the auction cannot go on without help from folks like you.

Come one, come all to our the initial planning meeting on Thursday, September 30. At the initial meeting, we often decide fun things like what the theme will be and what our signature cocktail will be. There are jobs big and small, some can even be done from the comfort of your own home or you can take a leading role. Participating in the planning of the auction is a great way to get to know other parents from our school, so if you are new, this is a great way to get involved.  Also, new participants always bring fresh, new ideas to our annual event.

Come have some snacks, maybe a glass of wine, and be a part of the plan!

Date:   Thursday September 30th
Time:   8:00pm
Where: The Dernbach Home / 1936 NE 38th Ave

Need a new toy?

May 26, 2010

YOU can win an iPad and be supporting your child's school at the same time.

All you have to do is sign up for an automatic monthly donation of $10 or more and you will be entered to win. But, you must enter by June 11th to be in the drawing. Also, we must have 20 families participate in order to hold the drawing. We are about halfway there, but we need YOU to sign up!

You can find forms at the Scrip tables on Tuesday mornings, or look for the tables set up sometime this week at pick-up time. The forms are also available in both offices (or download a form here or here).

Your support of the Foundation is the only way parents can provide money directly for staffing at our schools. In a time of ever shrinking PPS budgets, this is the only way we have been able to maintain a full-time librarian and music programs this year.

Earning for Learning - WE WON!

Oct 20, 2008

Through your efforts, Beverly Cleary School finished in FIRST PLACE with the Lloyd Center Mall's Earning for Learning fundraising program!

Purchases made through October 31st that were turned into customer service qualified toward our total.  The top prize of $4,000 will be deposited in our account and provides a jump start of our fall fundraising campaign.  Our school has finished in first place 3 out of the last 4 years, and finished second the other year.

It is only through the combined efforts of the Foundation, communication and reminders that we send via email, the newsletter, and the website, and YOU taking the time to shop at Lloyd Center and to turn your receipts in that we were able to achieve this success.  On behalf of the Foundation, thanks to each and every one of you that participated!

Beverly Cleary School Foundation

Oct 04, 2008

The Foundation held its first meeting of the year on September 22nd.  The Foundation is the primary method by which schools in Oregon can augment budgets from the state to support staffing needs identified by school leadership.  In the past, our Foundation has provided the financial support to hire leaders and educators for music, library, art, physical education, and language and visual arts programs.

Classroom Art for the Auction

Oct 04, 2008

It's time to start planning the class art projects that will be available to the highest bidder at the auction!

For new families...each year each individual class has the opportunity to create a wonderful group art project.  These range from mosaic tile tables to fused glass platters...to framed art...quilts...and more.  These items are a HUGE hit at the auction and help raise important $ for the School Foundation.  This year we are hoping to collaborate with some local professional artists to create a few of the projects.  We also have wonderful creative parents as well...who wants to join in?

Auction: Class Art Projects Meeting

Interested parties please come to an informative meeting regarding the class art projects for the auction.  If you are interested in participating, please check in with your room parents.  Each class must have at least one representative attending the meeting.  If you don't know who your room parents are or have general questions....please contact Amy Hekker.

Neighbor/author Eric Kimmel speaks to parents

May 12, 2008

At the 2008 foundation auction, author Eric Kimmel gave an inspirational speech about the importance of funding education.  Many people didn't get a chance to hear that address, or didn't hear all of it, so here by popular demand, is the full text of Eric's rousing call-to-arms.  Enjoy!

This is an important evening.  I was honored to be invited to address you tonight to kick off the fundraiser. I don’t have to tell you how important this event is, not only to Hollyrood-Fernwood students and parents, but to our whole Grant Park community. My daughter graduated from Fernwood. I live just across the block from Fernwood. I care about what happens to Hollyrood-Fernwood. And right now I’m scared. I’ve seen the budget projections and I can’t help wondering: when you cut important programs so deeply, when do you reach the point where you may as well send the kids home and tell their parents to home school them? Our teachers know how to do the job. What they need are the tools and the funding that allow them to do it.

An Auction Committee "Thank You!"

Mar 20, 2008

A giant thank you and congratulations from the Hollyrood-Fernwood Foundation Auction Committee! "A Simple Affair" was simply a success! We NETTED at least $72,000! Thank you to all the parents, families and friends who volunteered their time, donated items or came to purchase items.  Our school needs these funds and, thanks to the success of our auction, the Foundation can contribute to keeping valuable programs alive at our school.

Matching Kicker Challenge Raises over $25,000!!

Jan 10, 2008

Wow!! In just one week we raised over $25,000 for the Hollyrood-Fernwood Foundation! Way to go!

We had a 50% increase in participation over last year’s matching grant campaign, so thank you to everyone for showing such great support for our school and our kids.  And thank you to the 3 families who put us up to this challenge.

Foundation funds are the only way to pay for staffing above and beyond what is allocated by the district. This money will help fund additional staffing for the 2008-2009 school year.

Congratulations!
