PTA General Meeting Minutes -- December 16, 2007

President of the Oregon PTA - Anita Olsen

• PTA Summit - In Portland at the Holiday Inn there will be workshops
  on wellness, bullying, basic PTA, “Hot Topics”, It’s not cool to idle at
  school, 12 workshops. February 9th and 10th?
• PTA open house, at 45th and Belmont, February 8th.

General Membership Called to order at 6:55.

Last meeting minutes approved to be not read. Accepted!

Foundation came in second with $3000.00

Auction is Friday March 7th

Kicking back the kicker campaign.

Volunteer coordinator: We had “tons” of volunteers. We will
be sending out a questionnaire regarding fundraising events. We are
looking for feedback about what kinds/types of events we should
consider.

Budget: Magazine subscriptions. We have some more online
subscriptions coming in, but we made about $9000.00. Background checks-
Hollyrood site was good about collecting checks, Fernwood site was not.
We have extra scrip available. We can also take an order form. We have
made $1468.00 so far this year. We take orders every Tuesday at both
schools.

We have another round of grants coming up. Most of our fundraisers occur in the fall.

We were able to meet almost all the grant requests. Criterion
software. Library books, supplies, etc.  Tuesday January 15th will be
the next grant request review. Should we reach out to the band for fund
allocation? There is currently not much money for band. Band has not
asked for money. Yearbook wanted to know what the request process
is/was. Motion to have a discussion to free up some money for other
purposes at the February General Membership meeting.

The PTA board meeting can discuss accelerated revenue distribution.

Announcements: School naming process. We are beginning a
naming of the two buildings. It’s an opportunity for the community.
Matt Shelby from the PPS communicatons department. The committee is
going to go through the process in conjunction with LSAC to define
procedures, timelines, etc.

We changed the website today. The goal is 90% teacher content by the end of January ’08. www.hollyrood-fernwood.

Unfinished business: We are affiliated by the PTA of Oregon.
