Please keep this in mind as you do your online shopping and please let your friends and family know!

Second Annual BCS Rummage Sale

Have you got some extra clothing cluttering your closets?  Or a few too many tennis rackets in your garage?  Or maybe that college art piece needs a new home?  Put your clutter to work for Beverly Cleary School!

This year's sale will be held on Friday, June 18 at the Fernwood campus. Your donations are tax deductible and all proceeds from the sale go to the Beverly Cleary PTA.  You will be able to bring your items to school the week of the sale.  Start cleaning house this weekend!

2010-11 PTA Board of Directors Slate

Our next PTA General Meeting will be on Thursday, May 13th from 6:30-8:30 in the BCS Fernwood cafeteria.   School counselor Cynthia Thomas will be giving a presentation on bullying and cyber bullying. We will also be electing next year's officers and encourage all members to attend the meeting and vote!  Many thanks to our nominating committee -- Barbara Smith Warner, Sam Shiffman, John Tapogna, Susan Crabtree Eades and Christine Putnam. The list of nominees is below and has also been posted on our website and on both campuses.  Thanks also to those volunteering to serve next year!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is Monday, May 3 thru Friday, May 7, and here are our planned events for the week:

  • MONDAY:  Treats at Staff Meeting
  • TUESDAY:  “FLOWERS FROM THE KIDS” Day
  • WEDNESDAY:  Cinco de Mayo Celebration
  • THURSDAY:   “CARDS FROM THE KIDS” Day
  • FRIDAY:  “SWEET TREAT FROM KIDS “ Day

Here are some things students can do to help celebrate our teachers:

  • Bring a flower for your favorite teacher or staff member on Tuesday.
  • Write a note or make a card on Thursday (it’s nice to hear from parents too!!)
  • Bring in one wrapped candy for a SWEET teacher or staff member on Friday.

You may choose to do some of these ideas or all of them.  The idea is to let our teachers know we appreciate them. If you would like to help with donations or set up for the Cinco de Mayo Celebration or treats please email
Julie Heath or Abbie Rankin.

PTA Clothing Center

The final PTA clothing center volunteer date for BCS is scheduled for Thursday, April 22 (from 9:30 am-1:30 pm at Marshall HS) and we are in need of volunteers.  Beverly Cleary School PTA is responsible for staffing the PTA Clothing Center with volunteers for four days this school year; if you are interested in volunteering for a time or two (or all four!), please contact Abbie Rankin.

Pizzicato Pizza Dough 4 Dollars Day

Pizzicato Pizza on 42nd Ave and Fremont is generously donating 20% of its sales to Beverly Cleary School on Tuesday, March 16th. There are three ways you can help earn money for our school just by ordering pizza on Dough 4 Dollars Day!

Pre-order your meal by Friday, March 12th.

In an effort to save paper, forms will not be sent home with your child. The menu can be downloaded here and order form can be downloaded here. You can also pick up a form in either office. Just return the form and a check made out to BEVERLY CLEARY PTA to the Pizzicato pizza box in either school's office. Then pick up your pizza dinner at child pick-up time on Tuesday, March 16th.

Or... Go to Pizzicato directly to pick up dinner on March 16th.

If you're not up for pizza that night, buy a gift certificate to use later and that 20% still goes toward our PTA funds.

Help our school while you shop

Your online holiday shopping can do double-duty, making it an effortless way to help your PTA raise classroom funds.

Just to the left of these words, you'll find our four ongoing PTA fundraisers: Amazon.com, Powell's Books, magazine subscriptions and scrip sales.

Any Amazon.com purchases you make will bring your BCS PTA a 7% referral commission, Powell's will give us a 7.5% commission and magazine subscriptions allow us to keep 40% of the proceeds.

Please keep this in mind as you do your holiday shopping and please let your friends and family know!

Your magazine subscription helps our classrooms!

You can give the gift of reading and help support your school! Our school will receive 40% of each order and these funds will be used to support important goals and programs that benefit our children. Over 700 magazine titles like People, SI Kids, Reader’s Digest, and Time, plus music and books — great value and prices for everyone. You can RENEW your favorite subscription, ORDER a NEW title, or GIVE a Gift, and don't forget to ask family, friends, neighbors, co-workers or local business professionals or service centers with waiting rooms (doctors, salons, etc.).

Here's how you can participate:

All through this school year, you can order online by going to QSP.com. (There is also a link on the left-hand side of our school website.) Use our school code -- 425000623 -- and follow the instructions online. Our goal is to raise $1000. We are only selling online this year in order to reduce the stress that comes with filling in envelopes and postcards.

This book drive takes place the week before the Scholastic Book Fair and is timed perfectly for you to clear some space on your bookshelves for your new books!
