Meeting Minutes

Some issues that have arisen this year at various PTA units across the state have prompted to the Oregon PTA to recommend updates to local PTA Unit Standing Rules. The Executive Board of the Hollyrood-Fernwood PTA proposes the following amendment to the Unit’s Standing Rules and hereby forwards them to the General PTA Membership for consideration in advance of the 19 May General Meeting.  These changes require a majority vote of members present at this meeting to carry.

Minutes from the last general meeting, from April 8 accepted

Volunteer coordinator. No new news.

Foundation - Trying to work on matching funds from corporations. Looking to tap into an additional stream of funds. There was a letter trying to get money out to support the arts program. The winter matching pledge drive was successful. Julie liked having the support of the PTA as a supporting factor of Foundation.

Volunteer coordinator - Michelle and Susan have gotten a lot of work done to prepare the next year’s volunteer coordinator positions. Jenny has done an amazing job. Jenny is appreciative of the parents who have been volunteering.

Treasurer’s report - The technology grant has not been spent yet. Scrip has not done as well as it could have. For next year, buy for summer, and prepare for next year. It could do better next year. The last day for scrip will be the last Tuesday of the school year. We have chairs.

We watched a DVD presentation about the students.

• PTA Summit - In Portland at the Holiday Inn there will be workshops
  on wellness, bullying, basic PTA, “Hot Topics”, It’s not cool to idle at
  school, 12 workshops. February 9th and 10th?
• PTA open house, at 45th and Belmont, February 8th.

General Membership Called to order at 6:55.

Last meeting minutes approved to be not read. Accepted!

Foundation came in second with $3000.00

Designated Funds in Expenses from $4,000 to $4,500 to be in alignment
with minutes from 28 June 2007 General Meeting; voice vote affirmative
